KEWANEE - Joan Louise Kempin Nosal, of Kewanee, passed away peacefully on
Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born on April 27, 1929, to Arthur
and Louise (Moraski) Kempin, in Kewanee, IL. Joan was very loving and devoted to her
extensive family and friends; well-known for her generous hospitality. She always saw the
best in everyone. A life-long Catholic, Joan's faith was very important to her. She was an
active member of the Altar and Rosary Society at St. Stanislaus/St. Francis of Assisi
Churches for many years, as well as a lector. She was currently a member of Saint John
Paul II Parish in Kewanee, and St. John Catholic Church in Galva. Joan was also a
member of two Catholic churches in Apache Junction, AZ where she spent 23 winters
with her husband, Joe.

Joan graduated from Visitation Catholic Grade School and was a 1947 graduate of Kewanee High School. She loved to
attend the many wonderful high school reunions that the class of '47 held in places all over the country. She went on to
study nursing at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, IL, receiving her RN in 1950. She worked at Kewanee Public Hospital for
37 years, many of those years as an ER Supervisor.

She married Joseph Nosal in 1950, and they raised five daughters together. Joan is survived by her husband of 72 years,
and her five daughters, Cathy (Dick) Henderson of Chapel Hill, NC, Pat Nosal of Omaha, NE, Chris (Don) Doll of
Columbia, MO, Jane Nosal of Mukilteo, WA, and Mary Trushinsky of Arlington, WA, her brother, Ron Kempin, and sister,
Karen (Doug) Krusa, eight grandchildren and spouses, ten great grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She had many interests, including gardening, needlework and sewing (she was a master seamstress), cooking and
baking, playing bridge and all other games, entertaining, and traveling to all of her children's and grandchildren's special
events.

Joan's faith, kindness, patience, work ethic, and love of life and family, were unparalleled. She was a stellar example of
how best to live life in the service of others, and will be dearly missed by all.
